Plant as Portal: Herbal Apprenticeship

Step into a six-month journey of deep connection with the plant world. The Plant as Portal Herbal Apprenticeship invites you to rediscover the ancient bond between people and plants through hands-on medicine-making, seasonal awareness, and earth-based ritual.

Guided by the wise and experienced herbalist, Katherine Novotny at the Indiana Herbal Center, this immersive program blends scientific understanding with intuitive plant wisdom. Each week, apprentices explore the body’s systems, prepare traditional remedies: tinctures, salves, syrups, decoctions, and more. You will learn how to listen to the language of the plants themselves.

Rooted in experiential learning, the course includes herb walks, identification practice, and community-based workshops that awaken your relationship with the living landscape. Participants will also explore the energetic and spiritual dimensions of herbalism, connecting through meditation, folklore, and ceremony.

This apprenticeship is ideal for anyone ready to cultivate a deeper relationship with nature, from curious beginners to seasoned healers seeking renewal. The program runs seasonally, offering a sliding-scale tuition and flexible payment options to make the experience accessible to all who feel called to walk the green path.
